Hi everyone, I was trying to configure OpenStack Swift on ubuntu 12.04 using havana cloud archive ppa, using steps in OpenStack Cloud Computing Cookbook 2nd edition.

when I tried to restart swift main services using : "sudo swift-init main restart" , I got the following message

No handlers could be found for logger "swift-proxy"

and here is /etc/swift/proxy-server.conf content (

I also checked exit status of swift-init main restart as following :

sudo swift-init main restart
echo $?

so any ideas what's wrong here ?

Thanks in advance

On Ubuntu 12.04 I just use:

sudo service swift-proxy start

I'm not sure why swifti-init wouldn't work, perhaps it doesn't control the proxy server. But starting swift-proxy with it's init.d script should work.

it seems yeah swift-init wasn't able to start swift-proxy and even some time I had to start swift-proxy manually using command exec /usr/bin/swift-init proxy-server start , but the error / warning message I posted before still exists No handlers could be found for logger "swift-proxy"

It will be solved by modifying log_name from "swift-proxy" to "proxy-server" In proxy-server.conf.

I was able to get rid of this error by not specifying a default log route, i.e. log_name etc in the [DEFAULT] section.
