Hi all,

I saw this previous topic but it is not working for me.

I installed RDO packstack havana version and everything is working. I didn't install more pakages. Now, I want to change VNC console to SPICE console to manage server instances on Horizon. My question is: How to configure openstack to use SPICE console instead of VNC console?. Step by step, please.

  • What packages should I install?
  • What configuration files should I modify?
  • What configuration values should I modify and with which values?
  • Is it necessary install something on the browser (Chrome, Firefox)?

Link to RDO feedback as of June 2013

If we do the plain https tunnelling of SPICE in openstack, then client support for the websockets tunnelling would not be a critical feature any more.

I've also found How to use SPICE console on Havana? on this site. 2 answers were accepted , but I guess it's for CentOS 6.5
In meantime on F20:-
[root@dfw02 ~]# yum install opestack-spice-html5-proxy html5-proxy
Loaded plugins: langpacks, priorities, refresh-packagekit
No package opestack-spice-html5-proxy available.
No package html5-proxy available.

As far as I can see surfing the Net, question been asked looks like work in progress. It's easy to enable spice for F20 cloud instance in Havana been setup via Dashboard and the only one thing to loose would be Dashboard's VNC console
Instance keeps to stay manageable via Nova or via Dashboard. Spice console would be available via spicy or virt-manger connecting to compute node, where instance runs.

But from specific Spice's features I have got only one USB redirection support

Sorry dbaxps, I think that link does not answer my question.

So, you do believe that Spice support via Dashboard is done for Fedora 20 ?

Personally, I would be happy to see any valuable answer. Not step by step, just giving me any clue how to manage with Spice via Dashboard on F20 or status of project , target milestone
