Hi! I am a novice on the topic of cloud computing or openstack. I started with the "Openstack Cloud Computing Cookbook" by Kevin Jackson. I started with the first chapter & got stuck at the execution of the following command: cloud-publish-tarball ubuntu-12.04-server-cloudimg-i386.tar.gz images i386 (1) This command failed - indicating: euca-describe-images failed to execute & prompted to check if the euca environment is properly setup. (2) I am running this with ubuntu host & client - both 32-bit that are setup as virtual machines using Oracle's VirtualBox on Windows 7 OS which has n/w setup with DHCP enabled. (3) The nova-api log shows an unexpected error exception - requesting to try the request again. (4) The host Windows OS on which Oracle VirtualBox is installed is Windows & has symantec configured.

Can you please help resolve this issue?

Too many things can go wrong if you try to virtualize inside a virtualization. Try updating the question with logs and one question at the time.

I would recommend folowing the official documentation for installing your first OpenStack cluster at http://docs.openstack.org . Once your cluster is up, you can use the VM Image Guide to upload images using the glance CLI tool, rather than euca tools.
