I did it in devstack; under ~devstack/localrc file, I changed sourcehost IP to new controller node. Compute node localrc:

SERVICE_HOST=192.168.0.10 disable_all_services enable_service n-cpu neutron q-agt Q_PLUGIN=ryu

Q_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST MYSQL_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST RABBIT_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST GLANCE_HOSTPORT=$SERVICE_HOST:9292 KEYSTONE_AUTH_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST KEYSTONE_SERVICE_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST RYU_API_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST RYU_OFP_HOST=$SERVICE_HOST

MYSQL_PASSWORD=mysql RABBIT_PASSWORD=rabbit SERVICE_TOKEN=service SERVICE_PASSWORD=admin ADMIN_PASSWORD=admin

One compute node can be controller by single controller. In Devstack, I pointed compute node to different controller by modifying localrc file for service host.

Thanks.

Was /etc/rc.local the only modification you made to move a compute node to another controller? Could you expand your solution? Thanks.
