Hi guys, I'm having trouble when I execute: nova-manage service list

Binary Host Zone Status State Updated_At
nova-consoleauth folsom-controller nova enabled XXX None
nova-cert folsom-controller nova enabled XXX None
nova-scheduler folsom-controller nova enabled XXX None

Like you see, only three services appear and all with XXX status, I've tried to start the services but nothing happened...

Can you help me please?

My dashboard is giving me Internal Server Error when I login but If I go directly to /horizon/syspanel/users or /horizon/syspanel/networks/ /horizon/syspanel/services/ or /horizon/syspanel/images/ and /horizon/syspanel/projects/ it works! the other ondes gives me Internal Server Error!

Please Help me !

PS: I followed the basic install folsom guide from openstack documentation

If you have restarted/started the services and they are not running they probably shutdown themself. Look into the nova-logs and look for errors or post them.

I suggest you could first restart the NTP ,DB, Queue-server and try restarting the nova services. If still you are not able to see the smiley then debug the issue from logs and post it here.

I am not that an expert in nova, but perhaps my experience with silly errors might be of help for you:

  • Sometimes when services do not show up in nova-manage service list it's because they're not reporting their state to the nova db (it seems you're running Folsom so you won't have nova-conductor if I'm not wrong). So it might be worth checking sql_connection for each service
  • It might also be good to check they're connecting to the appropriate AMPQ server
  • Also, I often end up with this XXX problem, wonder for about half an hours about what going, and then realize clocks are out of sync, as rakrup is suggesting. From my experience you don't need to restart them.

You could try the following :

1) check the status of each service whether it is dead or alive by running service <binary> status on the appropriate machines where the services are installed.

a. if it is dead, look at the logs an debug, else post logs here.

2) if the services are running on all the nodes (assuming you have a multinode setup) then sync the time in all the nodes and restart the services.
