I'm new to LBaaS under havana. One thing I want to understand, does LBaaS create a new instance ? or the ViF is control by the network controller?

What I don't figure out is who holds the ViF ip of the load balance? is it the SDN controllers ? if so - Where is the HA-Proxy service are running?

Thank you, Sassy

Sassy, Did you figure this issue out, or were any of the responses helpful? I'm closing out old requests that were answered either by me or another user.

LBAAS is usually running on the network node. If you don't have a network node then it should be running where the other neutron services are running. The controller node should be running neutron-server, while the network node runs dhcp/l3/meta/lbaas.

This has a better overview of it:

It doesn't create a new instance. It's outside of the idea of instances. Instances can be added as members of a pool.

You run command neutron agent-list, it will tell where it is running. If you have seperate neutron network node, then you have to run it on the network node along with other agents for l3, metadata, etc.
