Are there any options for implementing the DNSaaS for Havana release for RDO implementation? What are the integration methods available with existing nova-neutron setup?

do you mean if there are packages for DNSaaS on RDO?

At the moment, Designate is not packaged by anyone. We have a ppa if you are running ubuntu, but that's about it.

For the floating IP entries, that should be easy enough with a basic heat template to call our API.

We have basic auto provisioning for Nova / Neutron, but for most use cases you would need to write a plugin that uses out sink handler to create entries.

No, there are no DNSaaS (Designate) packages for RDO yet. We provide packages only of stuff that's out of incubation, unless there's a strong interest in it by someone in the RDO community.

What is the mechanism used for registering guest instances in the DNS server from private tenant network? We create Guest Instances using heat templates and assign floating IPs on creation. The primary DNS mentioned in the tenant Subnet is the our standard DNS server used in the environment. The Windows VMs are able to join AD domain with information passed in user data for cloud-init and are discoverable using monitoring tool. But we are facing issues with Linux VMs. Linux VMs are not able register in DNS. Is there any workaround for linux machines to register with DNS?

The only was I was able to conclude was implement DNSaas and call its API using Heat template for registering with floating IP in DNS.

Is there any update to this? Is there any way to implement Designate with an RDO deployment?
