I need some assistance with the Nova.conf configuration in Compute Node. and few suggestions in OpenStack setup My Controller has 2 nic cards(one for internal and one for external). My Compute Node only has one(used for internal) I am looking to set up FlatDHCP network. Can some one please help what to fill in for configuring the networking on Compute node. Below are the attributed which i am worried about. flat_network_bridge=br100 flat_interface= eth1 public_interface=eth1

As i do not have eth1, can i just put eth0 over there? Any additional instructions to be followed as i just have 1 Nic card on Compute Nodes

Edit: when a instance starts it should get an IP from an existing DHCP server that is running and not the one that openstack deploys in FlatDHCPMode. How will I make this happen? Is there any specific Network configuraton mode for this specific task?

Hi Nagraz,

Yes you can but it's not recommended. In addition you ensure that you have access via IPMI or others to this host, i think your ssh connection to the host system will be loss if you have any missconfigured.

Secondly: br100 is a bridge for your physical device and all dynamic devices(ports) for your instances. There's a short howto:

For small testing networks is flat ok but you should checkout Neutron with his plugins like OVS or Ryu if you plan to scale massively your setup.

Cheers Heiko
