I am installing the Openstack Grizzly and after configuring all the steps when i am trying to connect to the "IP_ADDRESS/horizon" then i am getting the internal server error 500.

I have changed the COMPRESS_OFFLINE = False in the /etc/openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py file but that also didn't solve the problem.

I couldn't fine much into the apache server log apart from the missing favicon.ico file. This file is not there in my machine so is that is the potential cause? I am using the this guide to install Grizzly:

Please let me know if there is some work around or i am missing anything.

The problem resolved with the reboot after changing the parameter
COMPRESS_OFFLINE = False in the /etc/openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py and rebooted the machine.

I had the same problem, I fix it by rebooting the server.

Usually when there is an error 500, there should be a stack trace in the apache error logs...

If there isn't, and this is still a dev/test environment you could try setting DEBUG to True in the local_settings.py file, restarting httpd and trying again. There should be a stack trace displayed in your browser, that will hopefully give more information on how to resolve this.

Does the error 500 appear after attempting to log in, or before doing even that?

What guide did you follow to install OpenStack?

Hi, have the same problem but COMPRESS_OFFLINE does not do it for me. I have something from apache's error.log though:

Yeah not an answer - true. I thought instead of opening a new question with exactly the same text I would be better to append to this existing one. But alright, I am going to post the same thing first thing tomorrow as a separate question. gn8
