Neutron port fixed ip logic

The neutron port list displays something like this 'fixed_ips': [{u'ip_address': u'192.168.10.2', u'subnet_id': u'af3a5552-8192-4805-bd92-09a2847429be'}]

Can any one tell me why we have fixed_ips as a list. Can an interface have multiple ips? In what cases this would be usefull.

If you want an IPv4 and IPv6 address but we also allow you to have multiple IPv4 addresses one on each subnet associated with the network (though this doesn't seem to be very useful to me either....)
