On ubuntu: sudo restart nova-api sudo restart nova-compute sudo restart nova-network sudo restart nova-scheduler sudo restart nova-vncproxy sudo restart nova-volume sudo restart libvirt-bin sudo /etc/init.d/rabbitmq-server restart

Reference http://docs.openstack.org/essex/opens...

On RHEL/CentOS/Fedora

for svc in api objectstore compute network volume scheduler cert; do sudo service openstack-nova-$svc start ; sudo chkconfig openstack-nova-$svc on ; done

I already tried that. Please note I used devstack installation script and all open-stack components are running. When I try to run these commands i get this error "restart: Unknown job: nova-compute"

Okay, I think with devstack you either start a new screen session like so: screen -x stack as the user that you install devstack with.

Or, re-run the stack.sh script after changing the EXTRA_OPTS flag in localrc to set additional values in there. You can set more than one flag by using bash arrays, i.e.:

EXTRA_OPTS=(logdir=/var/log/nova auto_assign_floating_ip=True)
