dnsmasq - ip allocation for new VM

asked 2013-02-23 11:48:53 -0500

I running 2-node (control+network and compute) both Ubuntu 12.04.2 and ovs is using GRE. After the creation of new VM, dhclient from VM cannot get IP address and I see followings in syslog:

Feb 23 12:04:04 node01 dnsmasq-dhcp[30678]: DHCPDISCOVER(tap1c44abca-68) fa:16:3e:d0:b6:c3 no address available

But it seems working fine after killing all dnsmasq processes, restart quantum-dhcp service and requesting ip once again by dhcpclient on VM. This problem occured after creating every single VM.

my dnsmasq: nobody 30678 0.0 0.0 28820 1012 ? Controller-node and network-node are on the same server with 3 ethernet cards.

[DEFAULT]

Show more verbose log output (sets INFO log level output)

verbose = True

Show debugging output in logs (sets DEBUG log level output)

debug = True

Address to bind the API server

bind_host = 0.0.0.0

Port the bind the API server to

bind_port = 9696

Quantum plugin provider module

core_plugin = quantum.plugins.openvswitch.ovs_quantum_plugin.OVSQuantumPluginV2

The strategy to be used for auth.

Supported values are 'keystone'(default), 'noauth'.

auth_strategy = keystone

control_exchange = quantum

If passed, use a fake RabbitMQ provider

fake_rabbit = False

rabbit_host = localhost rabbit_password = passhere

Defined in notifier api

notification_driver = quantum.openstack.common.notifier.rabbit_notifier

Defined in list_notifier

list_notifier_drivers = quantum.openstack.common.notifier.rabbit_notifier
