I've a question that I can't answer. I can at the moment create a bootable volume in command line, but I would like to do the same with the Openstack Dashbard.

How can I say?

At the moment:

Maybe in the future..

The ability to create a volume from an image was only merged recently and is available in the Havana first development milestone. The Havana release will be out around October.

Thanks for your help! So, If I use Openstack GRIZZLY, I 've to modify code files. Have you ever test it?

I wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're doing. It's probably better to wait until the next release.

Yes but If I copy excatly the following steps explained in the documentation that you joigned before, (and if I make backup) It should work.. ? What do you think ?

It's a complex commit that is not guaranteed to work in Grizzly. You can try to cherry-pick it, but again unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't recommend it. What's the goal of your deployment? Production?

The goal a my deployment is to create a bootable volume to install a virtual machine with an ISO image, using the dashboard. I can already do that in command line, but I have to do the same with the dahboard. Do you understand?

When you create a volume from dashboard, you can choose the volume source as image and select a image. This will create a bootable volume. I have devstack TOT and this feature is available. Also for booting from a volume, you need this fix

This is the screen shot where we can create a bootable volume

Thanks for your help. It's a good solution, but I don't know devstack. Can I use devstack TOT with Openstack Grizzly. And Where can I find the procedure?

devstack is a dev environment. If your setup is in production, I would suggest please wait till Havana is released. However for your learning/understanding openstack, you can create a single node devstack on a ubuntu VM. Check for more details
