Not able to ping Compute Node and no Internet from VM

Hi Everyone,

I am using Folsom from Jan 2013, it is in production from Feb 2013, I came across issues, So i started to implement Grizzly on Centos 6.4..

Successfully completed the installation, uploaded cloud image from Ubuntu to glance, i am able to launch the VM and able to SSH with PEM Key.. But i am not able to access internet and not able to ping Compute Node from VM but able to ping Controller Node..

Controller Node: 10.0.0.2

Running all services except Compute

Compute Node: 10.0.0.5

Running only Compute service

VM Private VLAN: 192.168.100.0/24

Floating IP Range: 10.0.0.0/26

Please help me out how to fix this issue, i tried my level best, but i was not able to solve it..

Any help will be appreciated..

Srikanth, I had faced the same problem, but I just get a temporary solution for my problem and maybe can help you.

1) check the iptables in Controller Node 2) look up the chain of quantum-l3-agent-POSTROUTING , if the rule of this chain is like this, "1 ACCEPT all -- 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 ! ctstate DNAT" 3) delete the rule and try to ping the outside world.

That works for me. But I need to frequently delete the rule!

Hi Srikanth,

I am curious about which plugin do you use to configure the virtual network, linux bridge or openvswitch?

The 2nd question: If you want to use openvswitch, you should first install openvswtich. But directly install openvwsitch in CentOS 6.4 may get strange problems like the host reboot suddenly. If you get the problem like me, you should try to upgrade the kernel then reinstall the openvswitch. That works for me.

The 1st question: The ifconfig has showed there are no other virtual devices for public network and private network. I have a great pdf file of introducing how to configure virtual network under quantum. I send to your email for your reference.

Hi Luan,

The document what you shared is really good and easy to understand..

All i noticed is VM is not able to reach to the Gateway of LAN(10.0.0.0/24 i.e 10.0.0.1).. But it is able to reach Controller Node(eth0-10.0.0.2 & eth1-10.0.0.11).. As per my knowledge controller is not routing the traffic properly to the destination.. Kindly help me to complete this..
