Hi, guys, I am so sorry to bother you, but I still have the problem even after multiple attempts of clean openstack installation.

I have only one computer named nova1 that has two nics named eth0 and eth1. I have installed all the nova services on the computer.

the follow is the releated information:

root@nova1:/home/buptzyh# euca-describe-instances RESERVATION r-c5j8j5l3 buptpro default INSTANCE i-00000010 ami-00000002 running mykey (buptpro, nova1) 0 m1.tiny 2011-08-24T06:38:07Z nova

root@nova1:/home/buptzyh# ping PING ( 56(84) bytes of data. From icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable From icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable From icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable From icmp_seq=4 Destination Host Unreachable From icmp_seq=5 Destination Host Unreachable From icmp_seq=6 Destination Host Unreachable

root@nova1:/home/buptzyh# ps ax | grep dnsmasq 11092 ? S 0:00 dnsmasq --strict-order --bind-interfaces --conf-file= --domain=novalocal --pid-file=/var/lib/nova/networks/ --listen-address= --except-interface=lo --dhcp-range=,static,120s --dhcp-hostsfile=/var/lib/nova/networks/nova-br100.conf --dhcp-script=/usr/bin/nova-dhcpbridge --leasefile-ro 11093 ? S 0:00 dnsmasq --strict-order --bind-interfaces --conf-file= --domain=novalocal --pid-file=/var/lib/nova/networks/ --listen-address= --except-interface=lo --dhcp-range=,static,120s --dhcp-hostsfile=/var/lib/nova/networks/nova-br100.conf --dhcp-script=/usr/bin/nova-dhcpbridge --leasefile-ro 11372 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto dnsmasq

I have killall dnsmasq and restart nova-compute, but still can't ping or ssh to the instance.

Have you set euca-authorize? If yes, I found this helpful: (

Can you check /var/nova/nova-compute.log and nova-network.log? Anything unusual there?

Also are there any files in /var/lib/nova/instances?

also make sure there are no stray lock files in /var/lib/nova/tmp.

My lock path is (-lock_path=/var/lib/nova/tmp). I noticed yours was -lock_path=/var/lib/nova/. Not sure if that can cause issues.

Can you view the vm from virt-manager? or any other hypervisor tool?

I think it is because the image, my cpu is 32 bit and I use a 64 bit image, when I change to a 32 bit image, it is working, thank you all.
