Multiple Compute Nodes - Design

Hello,

I have a few standalone Openstack servers and I'd like to take it to the next level. For instance setting up 1-2 servers to manage glance, networking, keystone and start to add compute nodes as the demand increases. I'm having a hard time finding a good design doc or best practices. Can someone point me in the direction of a design guide or doc on how to do so. Thanks in advance.

Peter, I have tried multi-node openstack deployment. But only with additional nova-compute. It works

Even am reading up and trying to comeup with complete multi node deployment. This is what am planning to use as architecture. I am still on Essex so not tried Cinder or Quantum.

Machine 1 : Nova-Api Nova-Network, Nova-scheduler MAchine 2: RabbitMQ, mysql server Machine 3: Glance Machine4: Keystone and Horizon Machine5: Nova-compute Machine6: Additional Nova-compute Machine7: Nova-Volume

Hope this will give you some idea so that you can proceed. I am sure there are many other folks here and they will respond back with there solution.

Thanks.

DevStack will get you a fair way, but clearly it is not for production.

There are some more details here: http://www.referencearchitecture.org/

There are also people starting to update the docs to include a guide to the HA part of the deployment, but some of that is covered in the official docs: http://docs.openstack.org/

I hope that helps!
