Hi everyone, For last 4 months, I have been using proxmox and providing kvm RDP/VPS. And I would like to start with OpenStack nodes next month. Is it possible to start with a single server node and add nodes weekly or monthly?

How should I start? Is there a guide so I can set up production-grade with single node and add multiple nodes regularly.

Kind Regards

In general, a single-node setup can't be called "production-grade". You need redundancy.

Packstack documents how to add compute nodes, but it's hardly a production system.

The OpenStack install guides show how compute nodes can be set up. You may also want to look into Tripleo or Juju.

Thank you. I will read Packstack documents, and look into Tripleo and Juju. Using VPS's in a different location for redundancy is ok? What would be minimal-config for VPS's just to get started?

You have to decide what "production-ready" means to you. Redundant servers at the same location may be acceptable. However, using VPSs as compute nodes is not a typical production environment.

Minimal config? That depends on the deployment tool. For example, Packstack requires Centos or RHEL.

I was thinking of having the main node as vps to manage all physical servers nodes. It will be with provides good protection against ddos etc.

And using physical dedicated server as the one to start creating vms for clients. I will add nodes later.
