I have created a new Openstack server on a centos 7 esx machine using this https://www.rdoproject.org/install/packstack/ (https://www.rdoproject.org/install/pa...)

4 cores and 16 GB machine.

FYI : Nested virtualization is already enabled

When I tried to create a test instance, I am getting this error.

Message Build of instance 7b34243b-b458-4695-82e9-28502e8a225b aborted: Volume b7f52705-416e-4dd2-9827-f7ca71aa53d7 did not finish being created even after we waited 6 seconds or 3 attempts. And its status is error.

The cinder logs are shared in this link. https://github.com/ukreddy-erwin/openstacklogs/tree/master/12-05-2020/cinder (https://github.com/ukreddy-erwin/open...)

I copied this from folder \var\logs\cinder

I did a second run and this is the approach I followed. https://github.com/ukreddy-erwin/openstacklogs/blob/master/12-05-2020/cinder_2/Video_2020-05-12_202319.gif (image description)But, still I am getting same issue. 2nd time logs: https://github.com/ukreddy-erwin/openstacklogs/tree/master/12-05-2020/cinder_2 (https://github.com/ukreddy-erwin/open...)

The time stamp will be different as my laptop and server are in different time zones.

The error happened at 1:12pm, but the logs are before 9am. Either your time zone is set incorrectly, or the logs have nothing to do with the problem.

Hmmm, I see this volume getting deleted at 09:12:57.422 (api.log). It's not clear to me what that means.

Have you tried creating an instance with ephemeral storage instead of volumes?

I copied the logs from the centos machine to my laptop(both are in different timezon, may be it copied like that)

Your problem is that your CirrOS image is not in a qcow2 format.

2020-05-12 09:08:20.621 17117 ERROR cinder.volume.manager ImageCopyFailure: Failed to copy image to volume: qemu-img: Could not open '/var/lib/cinder/conversion/tmpyxMNYgcentos7@lvm': Image is not in qcow2 format

Remove the CirrOS image and create a new one:

wget http://download.cirros-cloud.net/0.3.5/cirros-0.3.5-x86_64-disk.img

openstack image create "cirros" \
--file cirros-0.3.5-x86_64-disk.img \
--disk-format qcow2 --container-format bare \
--public

Try to launch a vm with the new image. It should work now.

Try running on the controller node:

ip netns

and give the output of

ip netns exec qrouter-youridhere ip addr
