Hi everyone, I just researched on OpenStack and want to build a production OpenStack environment as instructed at https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ansible/latest/user/prod/example.html (https://docs.openstack.org/openstack-...), the system included 1 deployment host, 3 infrastructure hosts, 1 log host and 1 storage backend. Instead of using NFS as a storage backend in the instructions, I will use HPE 3PAR 8200 via the Fiber Channel interface at https://docs.openstack.org/cinder/train/configuration/block-storage/drivers/hpe-3par-driver.html (https://docs.openstack.org/cinder/tra...)

In the above network, I plan establish a physical connection of 3 infrastructure hosts (Cinder running on these 3 machines) connected to HPE SAN via managment network with 1Gbps and 2 compute hosts connected to HPE 3PAR 8200 via FC 16Gbps. Does the system work?

Thank you for your advice,

Hi, I believe this works as you setup cinder to communicate to the 3Par and SSMC.

I recently setup RDO packstack also to a 3Par over FC and I followed the guide and installed the 3par drivers. I also created a dedicated CPG in 3Par as per doco. I can see the HBAs on the host as well as the WWNs.

I created a test LUN and exported to the host and it shows up in Linux when doing a df -kh so I can use it as storage however this is not helping me in openstack.

I am still trying to figure out how to get Openstack to setup the Volume Type and create volumes automatically using the CPG.

Any help would be appreciated and it will also apply to the above question.
