Hi, I have Ubuntu Server. 18.10. I have installed microstack with:

sudo snap install microstack --classic --candidate

Then I started initialization with:

sudo microstack.init
DNS to use [default=1.1.1.1] >
External Gateway [default=10.20.20.1] >
External Ip Range [default=10.20.20.1/24] >
Openstack Admin Password [default=keystone] >
Do you wish to setup ip forwarding? (recommended) (yes/no) [default=yes] >
2019-12-03 21:44:38,580 - microstack_init - INFO - Setting up ipv4 forwarding...
(required) (yes/no) [default=yes] >
2019-12-03 21:44:42,493 - microstack_init - INFO - Waiting for RabbitMQ to start ...
Waiting for 10.20.20.1:5672

And I can see Last line for the last 30 minutes. The same issue was for --edge version of microstack.

What is VM: 10.20.20.1? How Can I login to it? I have tried to ssh into, but I do not know credentials.

daniel@smaug:~$ ssh admin@10.20.20.1
admin@10.20.20.1's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
admin@10.20.20.1's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
admin@10.20.20.1's password:
admin@10.20.20.1: Permission denied (publickey,password).
daniel@smaug:~$ ^C

Horizon is not starting:

daniel@smaug:~$ wget 10.20.20.1
--2019-12-03 21:38:05-- http://10.20.20.1/
Connecting to 10.20.20.1:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
2019-12-03 21:38:05 ERROR 404: Not Found.

Could you assist me to debug it? Where should I start?

I have the exact same problem, it stops at "Waiting for RabbitMQ". I have been trying to find a solution for months already. I tried also with version from Ubuntu 19, the Microstack edge, candidate, beta and no solution.

I have the same issue with the default IP 10.20.20.1 and also if I try changing the IP for e.g. 192.168.xx.xx.

Do I need to change my router/switch gateway IP to 10.20.20.1 to make it work?

Forget it, I gave up on microstack and did the process manually following: https://docs.openstack.org/devstack/latest/guides/single-machine.html (https://docs.openstack.org/devstack/l...) Worked but not straightforward, had to do some workarounds with root for setting permissions. (I had this issue with Ubuntu 19.10 and 18.04)

Microstack installs the Openstack on the IP 10.20.20.1 and You can open the Horizon dashboard on this ip in your browser. Did you tried to install devstack on the same ubuntu version? If yes, then re-install ubuntu because there will a hell of changes in your operating system by now and they will be conflicting with Microstack. I have not used the candidate version of microstack.. but classic --beta and classic --edge versions works fine in my case. In the case of edge i have to reboot the system in order to ssh the instance. and there is no probem in the init.
