Hi, I’m fairly new to OpenStack, however I have manually installed and worked with the OpenStack Folsom release when it was released.

I’m planning to deploy OpenStack Havana release [For a production environment] after a POC. planning to take the advantage of modern tools like Puppet, Chef,...

What would be the recommended approach to deploy OpenStack meaning, I came across many ways of deploying OpenStack like puppet, chef, RDO, juju and many other things.

Which OS are you going to use as your favorite host?

Ubuntu (Debian), Red Hat (CentOS), SUSE (openSUSE)?

If Ubuntu (Debian), you might go with Juju and use Ceph for storage.

If Red Hat (CentOS), you might go with RHOSP (RDO Foreman) and use GlusterFS.

If SUSE (openSUSE), you might go with SUSE Cloud 3.0 (Chef) and Ceph.

I'd say go with the King (Red Hat / CentOS).

Presumably it would depend on who you asked. CERN is using RDO on a very large production installation 50,000 cores) documented at http://openstack-in-production.blogsp...
