Hi, I have four servers and I want to build a cloud environment using OpenStack. These servers are 6 years old but they have ok specs. 134gb RAM, 500Gb HDD and two core 1.8 CPU and 4 NIC each.

My question is, which method I should choose for my deployment? The main objective is to build the Cloud environment first.

I’m fairly new to this. I managed to install PackStack and built a POC in VirtualBox while ago. So something that doesn’t require deep understanding would be nice. Thank you!

In my opinion, the only thing you can do without deep understanding is acquire deeper understanding. The installation tutorials on have that purpose.

Or deploy Packstack again. It supports multi-node setups.

I'm in a similar situation.. (previously played with packstack and now trying get tripleo setup running)

I used this tutorial as a starting point and have managed to get undercloud and overcloud installed..

A few things needed tweaking (url for the latest repos package) and undercloud.conf settings have changed.. Hopefully it might be close enough to get you started..

Managed to get a overcloud running but have not figured out how to get flat/provider network (on eth1) configured. A couple of lessons Ive learnt (the hard way) ..

  • kill and dnsmasq process running before you run the 'openstack undercloud install'
  • all undercloud and overcloud boxes will want an internet access (by default) to download docker images and ntp time sync..
  • remember most boxes will try to pxe of eth0 first .. so use that as provisioning network on overcloud nodes..

Right now I'm doing another full re-install as the undercloud "UI" did not enabled (need to enable the ssl_cert) .. I'm hoping the UI might help me figure out how to get my flat/provider network configured .. Good Luck !!
