Hello friends. I have a big question. I have a project where I need to remove some instances of Openstack and take it to vmware. But I can't do it. Can anybody help me? I read several text on export to vmd but none helped.

Create an image from the instance openstack server image create.

Download the image openstack image save. I think the format is qcow2.

Use a conversion tool to turn it into vmdk. Perhaps qemu-img can do this? It's definitely doable.

Hello Friend. I'm really having trouble creating an image of an instance I'm running the command below to create the instance image: openstack server image create --name test --wait 4ce664da-1e16-4694-94b6-ad2ce7ef2043 I am stating the name I want to give for image and the instance ID.

But when checking the image its size is zero, run the command like this to see the image size: glance image-show 2fd1045f-a9a3-4ad1-8624-f0926a51b5fb I don't know how I can do to export the instance in a really valid image.

What is the image status? I expect either ACTIVE or QUEUED. If it is queued, you can try the glance image-upload command.

It could also be ERROR.

In any case, I would check the Glance API log and the Nova logs for messages relative to this image. You can search the logs for the image ID.
