tutorial on page https://docs.openstack.org/install-guide/environment-networking-controller.html do not provide dns configuration then how nodes will connect to internet

asked 2019-08-01 11:23:06 -0500

following the tutorial to install openstack on VM on my server using VMs for training/learning. No network infrastructure other than one physical Wi-Fi connection.

on page page https://docs.openstack.org/install-guide/environment-networking-controller.html (https://docs.openstack.org/install-gu...)

As per para 1 the network configuration for management interface do not specify the DNS and as per para 2 provider interface uses a special configuration without an IP address assigned to it.

Then how as per advice on page https://docs.openstack.org/install-guide/environment-networking-verify.html (https://docs.openstack.org/install-gu...) the response for ping -c 4 http://docs.openstack.org can be obtained.

I am not getting the ping response with error for un-availability of DNS server.

See https://docs.openstack.org/install-gu...:

Management on 10.0.0.0/24 with gateway 10.0.0.1

This network requires a gateway to provide Internet access to all nodes for administrative purposes such as package installation, security updates, DNS, and NTP

Example: Assuming you run your cloud on two VirtualBox VMs, you could attach the management NIC via NAT and the provider NIC via bridge.
