Installed the openstack in the server. The Host IP given is Created the instance using ubuntu_14 image and also associated the floating IP Enabled TCP and ICMP rules in security group. Installed Apache2 in the instance. I can only access the instance in the browser of server that is and not able to access the floating IP in other devices using the same network. I can access the floating IP through SSH. Can anyone please help me in accessing the IP in other devices?

tenant_network_types = vxlan
mechanism_drivers = openvswitch,linuxbridge

I created the external network on the horizon dashboard which is private network Also listed the floating IP range in local.conf file that is

The default gateway for the router of the internal server is We have assigned the public IP to the server 43.x.x.x. The instance is connecting to my internal server through gateway which is br-ex.

If I do traceroute from the instance to my system( I get:

traceroute to (, 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
 1 (  0.960 ms  0.745 ms  0.513 ms
 2 (  0.589 ms  0.414 ms  0.400 ms
 3 (  1.029 ms  1.375 ms  0.776 ms

There are many ways of installing and configuring OpenStack. This question can only be answered if one knows how you map Neutron’s external network to your existing physical network. Picture how traffic from the other devices is routed to the instance, and you are on the way to an answer.

Now I can ping and ssh other devices in my internal network from the instance but I cannot ping or ssh instance from other devices within my internal network.

Your Neutron configuration. Which core plugin; if the core plugin is ML2, which type and mechanism drivers; to which network(s) are the instances connected; how are these networks routed to the world outside of the cloud; how did you create the external network.
