See the OpenStack virtual machine image guide.

Each image includes an account named after the image (debian, centos etc). Apart from Cirros, these accounts have no passwords; you either have to use keypairs to log on, or use cloud-init to set passwords. You can also add accounts with or without passwords using cloud-init.

The password of the cirros account is gocubsgo for recent versions, and cubswin:) for older versions.

you create a YAML file that desxribes the changes you want to make and submit it when launching the instance:

openstack server create --user-data cloudinit.yaml ....

See, in particular the examples section.
