I am running devstack on Ubuntu 12.04 server with qemu/kvm hypervisor. I upgraded libvirt from 0.9.8 to 1.2.1 using following link.

http://blog.scottlowe.org/2012/09/07/compiling-libvirt-0-10-1-on-ubuntu-12-04/ (http://blog.scottlowe.org/2012/09/07/...)

After running stack.sh I can not create instance, nova do not show any hypervisor.

waqas@server2:~$ nova hypervisor-list
+----+---------------------+
| ID | Hypervisor hostname |
+----+---------------------+
+----+---------------------+

Looking in the screens I found errors in n-cpu logs screen.
Kindly help... any suggestions would be helpful

output of n-cpu screen is given below

waqas@server2:/opt/stack/tempest$ cd /opt/stack/nova && sg libvirtd '/usr/local/bin/nova-compute --config-file /etc/nova/nova.conf' & echo $! >/opt/stack/status/stack/n-cpu.pid; fg || echo "n-cpu failed to start" | tee "/opt/stack/status/stack/n-cpu.failure"

@dheeru Thanks for response. I tried the solution from this link, didn't solve the issue

Can you check the permissions for '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock'? Also ensure that the libvirtd.conf has 'unix_sock_group = "libvirtd"'.

@unmesh-gurjar I added unix_sock_group = "libvirtd" in libvirt.conf. then restarted libvir and rerun processes in n-cpu, and I encountered following error. http://paste.openstack.org/show/69390/ and /var/run/libvirt/ is empty

I guess after updating the configuration, libvirt hasn't come up! Please check the error(s) in libvirt logs and paste it here if required.
