How can I create an image of OS containing GUI of the OS? Is there any image maker software or any other faster way to achieve it?

I want to provide a GUI based image to my instance. Currently, I have to manually download the image and boot it up to my instance which is very time-consuming. I want to know whether there is a way to create the image of OS with GUI through some procedure/software?

Use the image guide https://docs.openstack.org/image-guid....

Not sure if the tools and procedures in the guide will save time, though.

Alternative: Launch your instance from one of the available images, install and configure the GUI you want, then openstack server image create.

Hi bharghvi,

There is an easy way is available for launching GUI based ISO images, the cinder service is required for this option.

1)First upload image in the glance

2)Launch an instance using that image

3)Create a bootable volume in cinder

4)Attach that volume into the instance

5)Install the operating system in the volume temporarily

6)Make the volume bootable

7)Then detach from the instance and attach to any instance or take the snapshot or upload the volume into the glance as image and then try to launch an instance using that image
