Learning how to contribute to OpenStack seems really complicated. There are a lot of things to set up. There are a lot of projects. Are there any trainings I can attend to help me get started with all of this?

Usually, there are workshops at the summits, but other than that I doubt that there is any formal training for developers. See also https://docs.openstack.org/upstream-t....

On the other hand, in-person training courses for OpenStack users and administrators are offered by various vendors.

As already mentioned there are vendors who offer training for OpenStack operators and administrators. You can find the OpenStack training partners in the Marketplace(https://www.openstack.org/marketplace/training/).

More developer focused training is mainly done through the OpenStack Upstream Institute which is held at Summit as well as at some OpenStack/Open Infrastructure Days held in various locations.
