What's the max size of custom metadata ?

I found some information about metadata, they’re stored in Extended Attributes (https://docs.openstack.org/swift/latest/overview_architecture.html (https://docs.openstack.org/swift/late...)) so the limit of the metadata an object can store is defined by the File System we used (XFS, BTRFS, ext3).

For example XFS has a limit of 4 Ko for keys+values.

What’s the size of the metadata used by Swift for each object (object’s size, path, etc) ? This will allow me to know the real size of personal metadata I could use.

Thanks in advance !

The file /etc/swift/swift.conf contains a section [swift-constraints] with the values :

  • max_header_size = 8192
  • max_meta_count = 90
  • max_meta_name_length = 128
  • max_meta_overall_size = 4096
  • max_meta_value_length = 256 These values can be modified.
