hi, just to clarify things. in openstack we must configure compute as ceph client if we use ceph? we must configure compute as glance client? the cinder role is to create volumes and to boot from images an instance? nova glance so on talk using nova-api glance-api so on? tnx

Yes, nova-compute uses Glance. nova.conf has a [glance] section.

Yes, Cinder manages volumes. No, it doesn't boot anything; Nova does that.

Yes, OpenStack services normally communicate via API (there are exceptions, such as Ceilometer getting samples directly over the message queue).

I suggest you read an introductory text about OpenStack and perform a manual installation. Most of the questions you have asked so far will be answered, and probably most of the questions you plan to ask in the future.
