I am trying to start nova compute service. The command line stuck for a long time [root@openstack-compute ~]# systemctl start openstack-nova-compute.service

So I checked the nova-compute.log and found only 1 INFO: 2019-01-20 00:32:29.361 51367 INFO os_vif [-] Loaded VIF plugins: ovs, linux_bridge, noop

Component versions:

[root@openstack-compute nova]# rpm -qa|grep nova
python2-novaclient-11.0.0-1.el7.noarch
python-nova-18.1.0-1.el7.noarch
openstack-nova-compute-18.1.0-1.el7.noarch
openstack-nova-common-18.1.0-1.el7.noarch
[root@openstack-compute nova]# rpm -qa|grep vif
python2-os-vif-1.11.1-1.el7.noarch

I cannot move on. Could anybody help resolve it?

How was this cloud installed? Are you running nova-compute on a dedicated compute node? Is debug logging enabled?

You could try to run nova-compute in the foreground with debug option, based on the command line in the systemd unit file. Perhaps that gives you more messages.

Have the same issue where "INFO os_vif [-] Loaded VIF plugins: ovs, linux_bridge, noop" is the last line in nova-compute.log and status of openstack-nova-compute is stuck in "activating". Tried running nova-compute in the foreground with --debug and same results. Did not find errors in other logs.
