All in one means that all control functions and the hypervisor for running VMs are on the same server.

Multiple nodes means that in addition to a control server, there are separate servers running only hypervisors, or possibly additional controllers.

This terminology is used whether deploying OpenStack with Ansible, with Puppet, or with another tool or method.

For installing OpenStack with Puppet? I have not done it, and don’t know any other documentation.

Why do you want to use Puppet?

The disadvantage of Puppet is lack of documentation.
