I cannot access to VM cirrors after the launch of the instance

root@controller # ssh cirros@192.168.1.44

cirros@192.168.1.44's password: Permission denied, please try again.

cirros@192.168.1.44's password: Permission denied, please try again.

cirros@192.168.1.44's password:

cirros@192.168.1.44: Permission denied (publickey,password).

You have two choices.

If you have a password, you can use it. For Cirros, it is either cubswin:) or gocubsgo.

Normally though, you launch the instance with an SSH key and use the private key to log on. Workflow:

  • Create a key openstack keypair create mykey > mykey.pem
  • Launch instance with the key openstack server create --key-name mykey ...
  • Adjust private keyfile permissions chmod 400 mykey.pem
  • Log on with the private key ssh -i mykey.pem ...

There used to be a user guide with instructions like this on docs.openstack.org. I can't find it for Rocky, but the Ocata version still exists and is still applicable.

If still facing issues go to your user folder-- 1) root@controller # cd /home/user 2) cd .ssh 3) And then follow the steps mentioned by Bernd

IMP : Whenever you launch an openstack linux instance it is accessed by a private key.
