We have run our OpenStack solution on FlexPod configurations, with UCS, Nexus and NetApp. Both Cisco and EMC are big contributors to OpenStack. What EMC storage do you have ? I have a few friends at VCE and EMC I can ask as well.

Also, EMC owns VMWare and Pivotal - a solution in today Enterprise (VMWare) as well as forward leaning PaaS layer on top of VMWare, OpenStack, AWS, Google with Pivotal Cloud Foundry product - They see how the two worlds run in parallel and then eventually connect and early adopters being to shift, and over time the new becomes the mainstream, and the mainstream become history. EMC is smart, they have feet in both camps.

As the end of the day Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus, EMC VNX is great stuff, very cool but expensive. My last job was at a reseller - so I sold all that stuff plus Flexpods and VCE solutions. OpenStack and the new Cloud paradigm assumes the hardware layer is much less sophisticated and less expensive, has no redundancy, and maybe is a black box like AWS, Softlayer or Google - so most forward leaning Cloud Applications Architectures put the resiliency at the application layer not at the infrastructure layer. Go read about Netflix and what they did at AWS.

Vblock Systems from VCE accommodate a wide variety of workloads.

VCE also has a growing number of ISV partners and is actively looking for OpenStack oriented ISV companies to work with closely. VCE developed the Vblock Ready certification to assure our customers that solutions from ISVs and IHVs have been tested and certified on Vblock Systems and that VCE will support the decision to implement those solutions.

If you are curious out VCE's involvement in OpenStack and our talk submission "OpenStack on Vblock" for OpenStack Summit in May 2014 feel free to contact me for more details.
