instance going to error state

instance running on cinder volume which is attached to compute1 node ,when the compute1 node went down the all the instance which are running on cinder storage volume attached compute1 showing error state . openstack pike setup deployed using ansible

If instances use volumes as their filesystem, and those volumes become unavailable because their host goes down, errors should be expected.

Think of the physical equivalent: A server uses a disk array LUN as root filesystem. That disk array becomes unavailable. What is the server supposed to do except going down as well?
