Instance creation with iso and need to upload iso in glance

Hi All,

I have configured openstack hava on ubunut 12.04 . all are went well , i am stucked the instance creation, i am uploaded iso image to glance and in dask board i am trying to create instance with iso in instance console im getting error bootable device is not found and one more error no image in select disk.

can you please some one explain from base steps of which image i have to upload and where , how i can create instance with iso or is there any sapparate images availbe for openstack or regular iso will work for instance.

it would be greate if you provide me step by step with command.

The best way to create instances (that I have found), is to boot off an ISO outside of OpenStack (using virt-install), create the base image, and upload it using Glance. See the following guide for some help (CentOS images): http://docs.openstack.org/image-guide/content/centos-image.html

Thanks dtaylor, now iam able to create instances with virt-install, i folowed steps created VM by using virt-install, vm file is stored in /var/lib/libvirt/images as .img file, i took vm.img file and uploaded to glance from there i created instance. i think what i am done that is correct. now another issue is same thing i tried for windows 2008 , but it giving me error. is there any procedure for create windows 2008 instance ? please guide me thanks

That's something I'm still working on myself. I have found highly customized Windows images to be a bit more complicated (growing the root partition, networking, etc.). You might find these utilities helpful: http://www.cloudbase.it/cloud-init-for-windows-instances/.

thanks for your support, actually my question is i want create windows 2008 instance in openstack , openstack setup i done in ubuntu 12.04 KVM. please suggest me thanks
