Reading:, the example indicates PIKE as a version for "openstack_release" in globals.yml. (The same is also said in the queens dokuments) It also says:

It’s important to use same version of images as kolla-ansible.That means if pip was used to install kolla-ansible, that means it’s latest stable version so openstack release should be set to pike.

But the latest version is queens right?

So what is it? Pike or queens when I am installing kolla-ansible via pip?

And...which exakt version of kolla-ansible, if I specifically wish to use PIKE or QUEENS?

Currently latest pip package is queens,

so if you do pip install kolla-ansible will install 6.0.0 (current version).

To install a older version use the version whithin pip command.

pip install kolla-ansible==5.0.x

Kolla/kolla-ansible versions are like:

  • 6.0.x queens
  • 5.0.x pike
  • 4.0.x ocata
  • etc

That doesnt explain why the documentation, marked as latest and queens says I should use pike...?

Superb! Now if I could just figure out why 9 out 10 of my attempts to deploy this (in either single or dual-controller scenarios), keep failing with mysql db failures when trying to create databases.
