Hi all,

I was creating QCOW2 images for different windows version's so that those can be launched on Openstack as an Instance. I use VirtIO drivers and cloudbase init script's for the Image creation process through Virtualbox but when I started for Windows server 2003 the same was not happening. I was able to run sysprep on the machine but wasn't able to install VirtIO drivers on it.

Is there a way to do it on windows XP or Server 2003 ? If yes than please tell me the way to do that or any other driver that can work on windows server 2003 other than VirtIO.

Any type of help for the Image creation would be really appreciated.

Admittedly I have never tried this. When you search for virtio and windows 2003, you find resources that may help you, for example at ovirt.org. It seems that you first have to use IDE to install Windows, then add the virtio drivers.

To get help, provide some more detail.

the same was not happening

What was not happening?

wasn’t able to install virtio drivers

What prevented you from installing them?

See also Windows installation instructions from SUSE: https://www.suse.com/documentation/op.... They confirm my first comment - install the OS using IDE disks, then add the virtio drivers.

In Windows server 2003 I am not able to install VirtIO drivers during the installation process, and after the installation the OS is not taking the drivers. @Bernd Bausch

According to the pages I referenced, it is indeed not possible to install virtio drivers during the installation.
