Cinder volumes NOT available

asked 2018-03-20 00:00:39 -0600

Hello everyone,

My controller node is running in a VM on a storage server. I have a virtual disk(VD) assigned to the VM(controller) that I am using for the cinder-volumes group. Just to be clear cinder is running on my controller and it has been working. I accidentally assigned a size to the cinder-volumes VD that was larger than the underlying physical volume supported.

In the course of copying data to a cinder volume it ran out of disk space and the host system paused the VM(controller) to prevent further problems. Now when I start my controller my cinder volumes do not mount.

My cinder volumes are listed as "NOT available" and my attempts to mount them have been in vain. I have tried: vgchange -a y

with result showing as: 0 logical volume(s) in volume group "cinder-volumes" now active

Sample output from lvdisplay:

Any help would be very much appreciated. I am relatively new to OpenStack so there may be something simple I am overlooking.

Thank you!
