is there a way to delete unused nova-compute nodes from the "nova-manage service list". I know that i can disable them with "sudo nova-manage service disable hostname servicename". But i realy want to delete and not disable them. I think one possible soultion would be to delete them out of the service database table. But maybe someone knows a better and cleaner alternativ?

I have been looking for a way to do this for the last 3-4 releases of OpenStack and still have seen what you reference as the only way - that being, manual database changes. I've looked through nova blueprints and see nothing related, so I just made a blueprint for adding this functionality to nova-manage, but not sure how far that will go. :-/
