How to start VM with ubuntu Image and install it on a volume

My environment is openstack Mitaka with scaleio based cinder volumes. I have started a VM with UbuntuDesktop16.x image and attached a 16 GB thin_ssd cinder volume with it. Then I went to VM console and installed ubuntu on the volume. Now, there was a message , take out the CD and reboot. I dont know how to take out CD as I started the VM with ubuntu image. At the reboot , I pressed space and from menu, I choose "boot with next available HDD", but it failes too. Let me know what I am missing. My aim was to install ubuntu on the volume and then boot the installed ubuntu from volume.

Is a reboot required after the installation? If not, you stop the VM, or even delete it, but be sure that the volume is not deleted! Then you can upload the volume to a glance image and launch instances from it.

Best thing to do: download an ubuntu cloud image and upload it to glance. Create a new Cinder volume from that image. Start a new VM with that volume.
