Horizon displaying data from a table in Neutron handled database

asked 2014-01-27 04:36:28 -0500

Say I have created a new table "tab" in ovs_neutron database which has columns c1, c2, etc. c1 is a foreign key to the id column of the networks table. In the GUI of <ip>/admin/networks/, I want a column in the Networks table which contain the values taken from the "tab" table handled by neutron.

Is there any API available in horizon or neutron to which I can call and read from my own defined table? If not, how should I define my own method at both horizon and neutron to read and display data from the "tab" table using the web services?

If the question isn't clear, I can elaborate.

Thanks in advance

You need either extend the current API set or add new API itself using API extensions. You can look at extension provided in keystone
http://api.openstack.org/api-ref-identity.html#identity-v2-ext OR
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/e93514d3-c4f0-4aa0-8844-497f370090f5/entry/openstack_nova_api?lang=en

I have not used any of these to write my own extensions.

Thanks! That link was helpful. I get the following error in the screen when I try to invoke DEBUG routes.middleware [-] No route matched for POST /pn-class.json from (pid=12465) __call__ /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/routes/middleware.py:97 Turns out that get_resources is never called.

To tackle that, we have to set the api_extensions_path in neutron.conf (since it was not in default extensions). And also add in supported_extension_aliases in your plugin. It works smoothly.
