i have been watching videos and reading documents about openstack cloud for more than 2 months, and im willing to test my knowledge by creating my own private cloud.

i already have two physical servers.

so i need your help with designing a private cloud architecture that i can implement and test on my 2 physical servers.

i have never desinged a cloud architecture so i don't have any experience with that.

all i need is an example of a private cloud architecture design.

thank you advance

Hi darwinos,

Architecting OpenStack cloud design actually depends upon your requirements. For Proof-of-concepts (PoC testing) purpose you can try with Packstack, for developing and testing new features you can go with devstack. For Production clouds one can use IT automation tool based deployment like openstack-ansible or even manual deployment of every service.

If you require scalable architecture, then you can opt for triple-O (openstack on openstack) where in its easy to scale compute nodes whenever required. If you require highly available cloud, you can plan HA OpenStack In order to have both, certainly there are some trade offs.

BTW for clarity you can refer to OpenStack architecture guide and deployment guide available easily online .

Packstack is a convenient way for setting up a cloud, but for learning, I strongly recommend the installation tutorials. Then install again using Openvswitch as underlying networking technology, with the help of the network guide..
