Hi there,

for my company I am evaluating Debian with OpenStack in release Newton.

I've found this here https://docs.openstack.org/nova/lates...

But this for ocata. What is the right method to establish and create the database?

su -s /bin/sh -c "nova-manage --config-file /etc/nova/nova.conf cell_v2 create_cell --name=cell1 --verbose" nova

wouldn't work under newton

I know it's optional. But I wanna have it :) In another environment I have Ocata and I love it. So I'm asking about what I have to do to have this funtion?

I would try setting up the database as described in the Newton docs, then following https://docs.openstack.org/nova/lates... to install the placement service. I didn't find a placement service document specifically for Newton.

The placement service is optional in Newton. No need to deploy it.

See https://docs.openstack.org/newton/ins... for installing Nova on Newton.
