I want to deploy a test version of kubernetes on OpenStack. Currently i have openstack deployed on a vm running in my Ubuntu host. Is it possible to install kubernetes on top of this?

Environment details
VM: Ubuntu 16.04 running on ubuntu 12.04 host
VM Driver: Virtualbox
Openstack is installed via devstack

I basically want to test openID connect authentication process in kubernetes and openstack. For this i want a base test environment. Any suggestions on how to deploy kubernetes on the existing openstack setup done via devstack would be helpful.

I don't think that Kubernetes clashes with OpenStack, so just install it normally. But it may be safer to just create another VM, without devstack, and install Kubernetes there. Do they have to be on the same server?

Wouldn't that be regular kubernetes deployment? I want kubernetes to be setup on top of openstack. (Kubernets deployed on openstack infrastructure)

Perhaps you mean the OpenStack service Magnum, which deploys instances with Kubernetes (and other container orchestrators) configured on them. I believe it can be installed with devstack; if not, Packstack can do it easily.

Thanks for that answer @Bernd Bausch. I have one additional question, can i do this installation on a vm or do i need to do it on a host machine?
