Command and log here:

[stack@host ceilometer]$ ceilometer-upgrade --skip-metering-database --debug 2017-06-30 16:24:38.830 22917 WARNING oslo_reports.guru_meditation_report [-] Guru meditation now registers SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2 by default for backwar d compatibility. 2017-06-30 16:24:39.997 22917 CRITICAL ceilometer [-] Unhandled error: Unauthorized: The request you have made requires authentication. (HTTP 401) (Request-ID: req-09d68faf-6792-4994-999f-8c2240beb0ed)

I can't work out how to get the request being made (this should appear in debug mode, surely?)

The parameters from ceilometer.conf are:

# auth_url = http://my.ip/identity/v3/auth/tokens
auth_url = http://my.ip:35357/v3
# auth_url = http://controller:5000/v3
# auth_url = http://my.ip/identity_v2_admin
username = admin
password = xxxxxxxxx
project_name = demo
project_domain_id = Default
user_domain_id = Default
auth_type = password

tenant_name = service
interface = internalURL
region_name = RegionOne

I've tried quite a few things, but nothing seems to change the error. Trying curl on retuns quite happily. Completely stuck now

Try with the following service credentials if it works.

auth_type = password
auth_url = http://controller:5000/v3
auth_url = http://controller:35357/v3
project_domain_name = default
user_domain_name = default
project_name = service
username = ceilometer
password = ceilometer_password
interface = internalURL
region_name = RegionOne
