My Lab:

  • 1 VM for MAAS
  • 1 VM for JUJU
  • 1 VM for LANDSCAPE
  • 4 VM for OPENSTACK

Canonical Distribution of Openstack is correctly installed on a virtual environment (VMware Esxi), but if I try to create a new instance receive that issue:

Error: Failed to perform requested operation on instance "hubsvr01", the instance has an error status: Please try again later [Error: Exceeded maximum number of retries. Exceeded max scheduling attempts 3 for instance 26ad0d3f-5788-4c74-bd8b-aa114cf56174. Last exception: Image could not be found.].

Can you check if the image exists?

Wow, I didn't know about this compressed tar image format!

You should also check log files, in particular the glance API log and probably the Nova scheduler log.

I've also try to create a new image making the upload of ubuntu-16.04-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img, but same error.

Ciao Riccardo, try uploading the same Ubuntu image as qcow2 disk_format and bare container_format (I noticed you uploaded it as ISO). If it does not work, please paste your controller's glance and nova logs

Hello Antonio this is my juju status (here), and here your suggest (here) but same issue. About the logs which one do you need (here) and (here)?

I've found out also an issue about clock time between the Maas server and the nodes used to deploy of Openstack (here), I hope that is not tied to issue above.

Try enabling debug for glance and nova services and repeating the test. Interesting logs could be glance-api, nova-scheduler, nova-compute. Are you sure glance backend is working correctly? Try downloading the image with glance --debug image-download <imagename>

I've tried to download that image on glance's node and then run $: glance image-create --name "Ubuntu 16.04LTS Server Image" --disk-format=qcow2 --container-format=ovf --file xenial-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img. The answer: You must provide a username via either --os-username or env[OS_USERNAM

You must source your RC file before running the command. You could download your RC file from GUI (Project->Compute->Access&Security->API-Access->Download-RC-file)
