Configuring image to write to console log

I just created a CentOS image, but when it boots, the "nova console-log" contains only "?". I can confirm that it actually did boot.

What do I need to do in the image to ensure the console output is viewable using the "nova console-log" command?

Sounds a bit like your baud rate on the serial console is set wrong. There are hints in http://blog.domb.net/?p=56 on how to fix this configuration error with your image. Full list of links is at https://bugs.launchpad.net/horizon/+bug/1070752

Looks like the next step to try is as for the comment, i.e.

If you're creating your CentOS image using virt-install, add the following to the command-line:

-–extra-args=’console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8 serial’

Alternatively, add these kernel boot parameters to the kernel entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst

Confirmed and working on CentOS 6.3 x86-64.
