Cinder storage how to replicate across data center?

Hi I am looking for the best way to replicate the storage across the data centers when using Openstack. Any APIs in Openstack ? that helps serve this purpose. I am wondering if Ceph will be good to address this. Requirement is to allow storage to be in Sync between two data centers. Is there any automated way to achieve this! , please suggest.

Cinder has built-in replication. AFAIK there is no API for it, though; you just have to configure it. From the referenced page:

As a general rule replication is enabled and configured via the cinder.conf file under the driver’s section, and volume replication is requested through the use of volume types.

okay thank you so much for this info. Are you aware of any youtube tutorial that shows this as a demo?

There are summit videos about replication, but I don't have a reference ready. Use Google!

I had a look at the feature you mentioned above. Looks like that is purely replication of data. How about if we want to do data synchronization between two data centers using cinder volume?

So you want to write to the same volume in datacenter 1 and in datacenter 2 and want Cinder to ensure that the writes go to both datacenters? I suppose you need to set up your cloud so that it spans the two datacenters.

So what we want is to have two datacenters in two different geolocations. To achieve this I am planning to setup two different projects/tenants in Openstack for that. Hope that understanding is right? After that once the two instances are up will try attach the same cinder volume to both.
